A Sneak Peek at this Year's Shopify Unite Conference Agenda
This year’s Shopify Unite is jam-packed with an exciting lineup of speakers, sessions, and workshops. The talk schedule is going to cover a wide range of topics, from the future of Shopify to the latest trends in eCommerce. And of course, no Shopify Unite would be complete without an update on the latest product innovations coming out of Shopify. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the sessions you can expect to see at this year’s Unite.
“Shopify Dev Tools to Improve Your App Building Process”
Led by Jamie Guerrero, a senior Shopify developer, this session will allow attendees to get a glimpse of some of the new Shopify developer tools already in the pipeline. At this Shopify Unite event, you’ll be able to explore some of the latest development features, such as Polaris and CLI 3.0, and how they can help streamline your app development process.
“Building Powerful Checkout Customisations with Checkout Extensibility”
Shopify’s development manager Martin Laws presents this talk, which will focus on how to use the new checkout extensibility features to build powerful customizations. Shopify developers can learn about the different ways to use these features for enhancing and optimizing the checkout experience for customers.
“Build a Product Page with Hydrogen”
David Witt, a senior developer advocate at Shopify, will lead this workshop where Shopify developers will learn how to use Shopify’s new design system, Hydrogen, to build a product page. You’ll get a chance to play around with the different components and see how they can be used to create a beautiful and user-friendly product page.
“The State of Shopify Theme Development”
This talk will be led by Shopify development manager Jan Emge-Treibel, and will give Shopify Unite attendees an update on the state of Shopify theme development. You’ll hear about the latest improvements to the process and discuss ways to leverage theme-related tooling to streamline your workflow.
“High-Performance Headless Storefronts with Hydrogen”
During this Shopify event, Ben Sehl — a senior product lead at Shopify — will focus on how to use Shopify’s new design system, Hydrogen, to build high-performance headless storefronts. You’ll get a chance to learn more about the different features of Hydrogen, including how to use them to create a fast and dynamic frontend for your store.
“Creating Custom Shopify Checkout Experiences with Checkout UI Extensions”
Elizabeth Kenyon, a developer advocate at Shopify, will present this talk. It focuses on how to use the new checkout UI extensibility features to create custom checkout experiences. Shopify Unite attendees will learn how to choose extension points and get to grips with the Checkout UI component library, among other things.
“ShopifyQL: A Data Querying Language Built for Commerce”
Shopify’s senior developer advocate, Nevin Tan, will give Shopify developers a tour of ShopifyQL — a data querying language built specifically for eCommerce. You’ll learn how to use ShopifyQL to run queries against your store’s data and get insights that can help you make better business decisions.
“Customise Your Store’s Business Logic with Shopify Functions”
In this talk, Shopify staff developer advocate Steve Martinelli will show Shopify developers how to use Shopify Functions to customize their store’s business logic. You’ll discover why Shopify Functions was created, how exactly it works, and how you can use it to your advantage.
“Make Your App Stand Out Using Our Latest Design Guidelines”
During this talk, led by Shopify partner solutions lead Mathilde Vandenbosch, Shopify event attendees will discover how to use Shopify’s latest design guidelines to make their app a success. You’ll hear more about why the App Design Guidelines (ADGs) were introduced and how they can be used by Shopify developers to create an app that is both user-friendly and visually appealing.
“Render, Notify and Automate with Shopify Metafields”
During this Shopify Unite workshop, hosted by Shopify development manager Jesse McGinnis, the focus will be on how to create an effective metafield strategy. Shopify developers can explore advanced metafield implementation techniques and learn how to use metafields to automate tasks and improve the overall efficiency of their app.
“Effective Ways to Improve Your Online Store Performance”
Jennifer Gray, a senior frontend developer at Shopify, will host this workshop for Shopify developers who want to learn about effective ways to improve the performance of stores. You’ll get an introduction to web performance fundamentals and learn about some of the tools and techniques that can be used to help you achieve your performance goals.
“What Merchants Need in North America — Opportunities for Developers”
Shopify product lead Hui Lin breaks down the North American market opportunity for Shopify developers. You’ll learn about the different types of merchants who operate in this region and the specific needs they have when it comes to eCommerce. This talk will also cover some of the challenges and opportunities that exist for Shopify developers in North America.
“Create a Volume-Based Discount in Rust with Shopify Functions”
In this workshop, Shopify staff developer advocate Steve Martinelli will show Shopify annual conference attendees how to create a volume-based discount in Rust using Shopify Functions. You’ll explore how to use the Shopify Functions SDK to create a discount, which is triggered when a certain number of items are purchased.
“Learning Liquid Through Building Theme Sections”
In this workshop, Shopify senior developer advocate Liam Griffin will teach Shopify Unite attendees how to use Liquid to build theme sections. You’ll get to grips with the different types of Liquid tags and how to use them to create custom sections for your Shopify theme. This workshop is geared towards developers who are new to Liquid or want to brush up on their Liquid skills.
“The Journey of Growing a Shopify App into a Venture-backed Startup”
Sara Du, the co-founder and CEO of Alloy Automation, will share her story of how she took her Shopify app from a side project to a venture-backed startup. At this Shopify event, you’ll hear about the challenges and lessons she learned along the way, and how she was able to turn her app into a successful business.
